This Large platter has been hand built in a white stoneware clay. Many underglazes are then painted like water colours onto the bisque fired surface and finally a transparent glaze is carefully applied over the top. The design was inspired by folk art from Finland and Sweden…. Holly with its evergreen leaves and vibrant red berries, symbolises life and protection against evil spirits during the harsh Winter months. The Wreath Honours the natural world and invites in prosperity in the coming year.
This large for celebratory gatherings , but also is a beautiful dish as a table centre piece or for fruit etc….
It was handbuilt, bisque fired, painted, glazed and fired to 1220 degrees .
It’s probably best to wash by hand.
It was made with love, deliberately uneven and is one of a kind.
